A PVC Compounding operation, like many other businesses, is made up of four basic functions: technical support, manufacturing, sales and information services. As new employees are added, we will be looking to match their experience, skills and interests as best suited to the requirements in each function. For example:
Technical support may be one of the most demanding activities due to the wide variety of knowledge required. For example, when fully trained, workers in this area will be familiar with hundreds of additives, how they are combined with resins to produce desirable compounds, how to test these products and how to interpret customer needs. These employees work very closely with both the sales and manufacturing groups.
The manufacturing group is also faced with many challenges. Knowing the proper and safe operation of equipment in addition to being familiar with the materials and processing techniques are all part of this group's responsibilities Attention to detail and a sensitivity to deviations from normal operations will be important in maintaining peak production efficiencies and avoiding threats to health and safety.
Sales and Marketing requires knowledge of not only what our products can do, but also understanding the needs of the customer. Since a customer may need to satisfy any number of certification standards and be able to process our material in a variety of equipment (e.g. Extruder, Injection Molder, Blow Molder or Calender) a wide range of knowledge is needed. Of course, this group plays a critical role in the growth and stability of the company.
Not the least of the departments is information services. These include payroll, accounting, purchasing, production scheduling, inventory control and other support to the technical, production and sales departments. This work involves planning and keeping track of many details and plays a vital role in the smooth operation of the company.
